FSALC Director of Education Report

Welcome all delegates to our Florida State Association of Letter Carriers 71st Biennial Convention. It has been my pleasure to serve as your Director of Education for the past eight years. It would be my continued pleasure to serve in this capacity for many years to come.

Since the last convention, I have worked in conjunction with our state President Matty Rose and NBA Judy Willoughby to organize training seminars that have included contract training and legislative training. I continue to see the need for a training session focused on how to instruct fellow carriers, ensuring that the practice of in-house trainings continues, I will continue to work in conjunction with our NBA Judy Willoughby and state President Matty Rose to ensure that our members’ contract and legislative training needs are met.

I would like to see contract training consistently offered with the continued use of in-house instructors as well as outside instructors. We are working together to provide new and innovative ways to present information to meet the training needs at all levels.

I continue to support the legislative education of my branch and work with local groups to improve our position in the community. I have continued efforts to implore letter carriers to sign up for eActivist and COLCPE. I ask all who attend this convention to sign up for both eActivist and COLCPE, if you haven’t already, and return to your branches urging others to do so as well. Please help to educate others in legislative issues, and contribute to COLCPE, at least at the Gimme 5 level.

I again wish to extend my sincere gratitude for everyone’s support. I could not succeed in this job without the talented and dedicated unionists that wish to share their wisdom. Please introduce yourself to me at the convention and tell me what you need in the way of training. I welcome your input and wish to serve this union in any capacity that I can.
