REPORT OF DISTRICT 4 EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBER

Once again it has been my honor and privilege to have been the District 4 Chairman for the Florida State Association of Letter Carriers, I would like to thank the members in my District for electing me, and the board members, for all their support, and I am looking forward to serving my District, and the State Association, for many years to come.

So much has happened in the past 2 years, some good, and some really disgraceful. Actually most of the disgraceful acts have happened since this past November. As we look around our country, we should all realize what a GREAT UNION we have. The newly elected Republican governors are attacking the workers in the states they were elected in, by taking away their rights to collective bargaining, taking away pay raises, and making the union members pay more for their benefits and retirements. As our contract is expiring this November, we are in the hands of GREAT LABOR LEADERS, I am proud of our national president Fred Rolando, and his staff in Washington, as I am sure all of you are too. His leadership makes us all proud to be members of this GREAT UNION.

In the past 2 years, I have had 2 District meetings, one in Ocala and one in Daytona Beach, and I have participated in different rap sessions with Branch 53. These meetings and rap sessions have focused on political agendas and training. We all still need to be aware of what the postal service is trying to do when it comes to our jobs, particularly five day delivery. Again no one is going to protect us but us, all my union brothers and sisters, and together we can weather the storms that are ahead. So bring back all the information and training materials from here at the convention to the carriers that were unable to attend. It is our job to spread the word.

As I previously reported, I was elected the Director of Publications of Branch 53, and attended the branch meetings and RAP sessions during the past 2 years, (As I have for over 20 years). I was also a delegate to the national convention, where I donated my time working at the booth to sign up members for COLCPE.

As a delegate to the AFL-CIO, I attended monthly meetings at the Volusia Teachers Organization Hall (VTO) along with the special meetings and training's held by the Volusia-Flagler AFL-CIO. Listed below are some of the events I have attended as the District 4 Chairman of the Florida State Association of Letter Carriers after the State Training in Pensacola: Wednesday Oct. 6, 2010 Picketed on International Speedway Boulevard in Daytona Beach, Protesting the closing of the Daytona Beach Mail Processing Plant Thursday Oct. 7, 2010 Protest meeting pertaining to the closing of the USPS Processing Plant at the Plaza Resort and Spa at 600 North in Daytona Beach. I volunteered on numerous occasions during labor 2010 from October until the election in November. Tuesday Oct. 26, 2010 Candidate meet and greet with Rod Smith (Lieutenant Governor.) Thursday Oct. 28, 2010 AFL-CIO meeting at the VTO Saturday Oct. 30,2010 GOTV at Orlando branch 1091 Sunday Oct 31, 2010 GOTV at the VTO in = Daytona Beach Monday January 24, 2011 Conducted audit of the state association books Thursday January 27, 2011 AFL-CIO meeting at the VTO in Daytona Beach Wednesday February 2, 2011 NALC Branch 53 and surrounding branch meeting and RAP session Wednesday February 23, 2011 Met with Congresswoman Sandy Adams in Port Orange Wednesday February 23, 2011 AFL-CIO meeting at the VTO in Daytona Beach Thursday February 24, 2011 AFL-CIO meeting at the VTO in Daytona Beach Tuesday March 8, 2011 Joined the protest at the "Awake the State Rally" in Daytona Beach Thursday March 24, 2011 AFL-CIO meeting at the VTO in Daytona Beach .

Have a great convention.
