DISTRICT 3 REPORT APRIL
2010
- April 18, members from District 3 attended our meeting at
Branch1091’s Union Hall.
FSALC President Matty Rose briefed those in attendance on his
recent trip to Washington D.C. and the importance on supporting NALC
position for 6 Day Delivery. He also stressed for all to be prepared to
write letters and call their representatives when asked to do so.
Regional Administrative Assistant Jeff Siciunas briefed all on
the importance of reporting and tracking new deliveries to insure
compliance with the MOU. The NALC wants to make sure new deliveries are
assigned to city delivery properly. Jeff also tasked the local
presidents with tracking article 8 violations (overtime) that deal with
Window of Operation. Information should be gathered and passed along to
their office.
Debra Booth (District Director) for Congressman Greyson gave a
short update on the Congressman’s continued support of labor and more
importantly his support for 6 Day Delivery.
Our next District 3 meeting will take place November 14, 2010.

District 3 legislation/contract training will be April 18, 2010 from 9:30 am-12:30 pm. This training will be hosted by Branch 1091, located at 4790 Deauville Drive, Orlando, Fl 32808.
FSALC President Matty Rose and Region 9 National Business Agent, Judy Willoughby, or a Regional Administrative Assistant will be present for the training..
All interested in attending should contact me by April 7, 2010 with the number of attendees, so sufficient training materials will be available. I can be contacted at 407-298-1091.
Any District 3 branch who wishes to host our November 14, 2010 training session should contact me to discuss and plan for it.

DISTRICT 3 UPDATE
January 28, 2010 Letter carriers had an opportunity to meet with Congressman Alan Grayson from Florida District 8. Congressman Grayson took time from his busy schedule to discuss letter carrier concerns and assure us of his continued commitment to support Organized Labor’s issues. Congressman Grayson answered all questions from the membership and then those who wished to have photo’s taken were afforded the opportunity.
President Rose FSALC briefed those in attendance on the current political situation in the state and also covered the upcoming state training in Melbourne, Fl, March 12-14, 2010.

DISTRICT 3 REPORTS NOVEMBER 2009
November 8, District 3 meeting was conducted at Branch 1091’s union hall. Over 60 members and guest attended to include NBA Judy Willoughby, State president Matty Rose, Vice president Al Friedman, District 4 Chair Frank Marinacci,3 CDL’s, 6 Branch Presidents, and 1 DRT member from branch 1091.
Mike Williams, the newly elected president of the Florida AFL-CIO introduced himself to those in attendance and gave a briefing on the direction the state AFL-CIO is moving. Debra Booth, District Director for Congressman Alan Grayson, thanked the letter carriers for their support of Congressman Grayson and told everyone that letter carriers and unions are supported by Congressman Grayson.
Our 3 CDL’s gave a short briefing on the support or lack of support from the Congressman on letter carrier issues in their Districts, and encouraged all to prepare for the election season next year.
Branch 2591 President Betty English presented an eye opening power point presentation on the USPS and the Economy. All in attendance came away with a better understanding of the difficult time we are in.
Matty Rose briefing included the NALC’s field plan for the future and the requirement for the State to focus on the legislative issues that involve the NALC. We should all be prepared to become effective legislative and political activist.
NBA Judy Willoughby gave an updated on the projected FSS implementation, and the importance of tracking the withheld positions in our branches.
We covered a lot of important topics in a short amount of time, and I thank all those who worked together to make this a successful meeting. Thanks to Branch 1091 for hosting our meeting.
Our next District 3 meeting will be after the state training in March 2010. Any Branch in District 3, who would like to host the spring training, is asked to contact me to arrange this
